Therapy for Latinas in Florida Who Are Ready to Stop Just Getting Through the Day

Bilingual, culturally-informed anxiety therapy โ€” online across Florida

You've worked hard.

You've shown up for everyone who needed you.

You've pushed through things that most people couldn't even imagine.

But lately - something feels off.

Maybe you're constantly on edge, running through a mental checklist that never gets shorter. Maybe you're carrying the weight of family expectations, cultural pressures, or the quiet exhaustion of always being "the strong one." Maybe you've built a life here in South Florida โ€” but you still don't feel fully at home in it.

You're not broken. You're overwhelmed. And you deserve support that actually understands where you're coming from.

Moving to a new country demands so much reinvention: thereโ€™s learning a new language, finding your way round a new city , adapting to a whole new culture, and maybe even starting over in your career - all without the support you had at home.

Does any of this sound familiar?

Whether you were born here or built your life in a new country, navigating your identity as a Latina comes with its own kind of pressure. You might be feeling:

  • โ€œIโ€™m struggling to stay focused and be productive at work. Is something wrong with me?โ€

  • โ€œIโ€™ve worked so hard to get here, but Iโ€™m still not happy.โ€

  • โ€œI should be able to figure it out on my own.โ€

  • โ€œIโ€™m constantly on edge, like I have to prove that I deserve to be here.โ€

  • โ€œI feel really alone, but Iโ€™m not sure who I can trust.โ€

Youโ€™re not alone.

This is exactly what therapy can help with.

Moving to a new country is a BIG change, but youโ€™re strong, youโ€™re resilient and you can do thisโ€ฆ and Iโ€™m here to help.

You can:

  • Think of your well-being without feeling selfish.

  • Face your feelings and past experiences head on.

  • Be assertive and feel confident in who you are.

  • Regain control of your life.

  • Learn to listen and trust yourself.

You deserve a therapist who gets it โ€” not just the symptoms, but the story behind them.

I'm Ana Martinez, a bilingual licensed therapist based in West Palm Beach, Florida. I specialize in working with first and second generation Latinas across South Florida and beyond.

I know that for many Latinas, seeking therapy isn't simple. It can feel like a betrayal of the "we handle things ourselves" culture we were raised in. It can feel selfish. It can even feel like admitting weakness.

It's none of those things. It's one of the most powerful acts of self-respect you can choose.

In our sessions, I won't just listen โ€” I'll meet you where you are. I'll help you untangle the thoughts, feelings, and experiences that are keeping you stuck, using evidence-based approaches like EMDR and EFT Tapping that work even when words feel hard to find. Sessions are available in English or Spanish โ€” whichever feels most like you.

What becomes possible when you have the right support:

Latinas I've worked with across Florida have gone from surviving to genuinely thriving. Therapy can help you:

  • Release the guilt of putting your own needs first

  • Process past experiences that are still showing up in your daily life

  • Manage anxiety so it stops running the show

  • Communicate more confidently โ€” at work, at home, in relationships

  • Reconnect with who you are beyond the roles you play for everyone else

  • Feel proud of your culture and your story, not burdened by it

You don't have to keep carrying this alone.

Therapy is available virtually, so you can access support from anywhere in Florida โ€” no commute, no waiting room, no extra stress added to your already full life. Your first step is a free 15-minute consultation where we'll talk about what's going on and make sure it feels like the right fit.

  • Thereโ€™s not a specific answer as it is based on your unique needs. Some clients feel equipped and ready to be discharged after 10-12 sessions, while others prefer more time. During our time together, we review goals to re-assess your needs, see what the progress has been towards the goals, make any changes or updates and based on this information we continue or prepare for discharge.

  • The initial session is a bit longer as we get to know each other, talk about what brings you to therapy and we discuss goals. I normally ask clients to prepare to meet for 1.5 hours. After that, our following sessions average 50 -60 minutes.

Methodology

Eye Movement Desensitization & Reprocessing

Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) is very different from talk therapy. It is an evidence-based modality that targets disturbing emotional life experiences in order to help people to heal from emotional distress. EMDR therapy targets a specific image/memory and uses bilateral brain stimulation to desensitize (decrease emotional intensity and reaction) and reprocess so that itโ€™s stored differently and you no longer re-experience or react to this memory.

Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT)/ Tapping

EFT is an evidence-based simple, rapid, and effective brain-based approach to relieving stress and trauma. Itโ€™s a combination of exposure, cognitive therapy, mindfulness and positive psychology with somatic stimulation based on of Chinese acupressure, that allows us to re-regulate the amygdala (stress center in the brain responsible for the fight/flight/freeze response) and takes the โ€œchargeโ€ out of memories, emotions, and physical symptoms. . Takes the intensity out of memories, emotions and physical symptoms.
