Teen Anxiety Therapy in South Florida —

Because "They'll Be Fine" Isn't Good Enough

Virtual therapy for teens in Florida who are struggling with anxiety, low confidence, and the pressure to hold it all together

You can see it. Something shifted.

Maybe your teen used to talk to you, and now they're quiet in a way that worries you. Maybe their grades slipped, their mood changed, or they're spending more and more time in their room. Maybe they tell you "I'm fine" — but their eyes say something different.

Or maybe you're the teen reading this. And you're exhausted from pretending everything is okay when it really, really isn't.

Either way — you're in the right place.

Signs your teen might be ready for support

Teenagers don't always have the words for what they're feeling. But the signs are there. Your teen might be:

  • Constantly stressed about school, friendships, or the future — even when things are "going well"

  • Pulling away from family or friends they used to be close to

  • Struggling with low self-esteem or comparing themselves to everyone around them

  • Having a hard time sleeping, focusing, or finishing things they used to handle easily

  • Experiencing big emotional reactions that feel out of proportion — or shutting down completely

  • Saying things like "I don't know what's wrong with me" or "I just can't do this anymore"

These aren't just "teen things." They're signs your teen needs — and deserves — real support.

Therapy is meant to empower your teen and ultimately increase connection with you so you can enjoy the relationship with your teenager in a new way so you can continue to support them as they grow.

A safe space where your teen can finally exhale

Teen therapy at Lumen Cordis isn't about sitting on a couch and talking about your feelings for an hour. It's about building real skills — tools your teen can actually use in the hallways, at home, and in their own head.

I'm Ana Martinez, a licensed therapist in West Palm Beach, Florida, specializing in anxiety therapy for teens across South Florida. I work with teenagers who feel like they can't talk to anyone, helping them find their voice, manage overwhelm, and actually feel confident in who they are.

Sessions are held virtually, so your teen can connect from their bedroom, their car, or wherever feels comfortable. No waiting room. No commute. Just real, consistent support.

What becomes possible when your teen has the right support:

Teens I've worked with across Florida have learned to:

  • Manage anxiety so it stops controlling their decisions

  • Stop the negative self-talk loop that's been running in the background for years

  • Communicate their feelings — to friends, parents, and themselves

  • Handle pressure from school, social media, and expectations without shutting down

  • Build confidence that comes from the inside — not from grades, likes, or other people's approval

  • Feel like themselves again

Your teen can thrive.

For parents: what you're probably wondering

Q: What are teen counseling sessions like?

A: During the initial session, I take some time to get to know you and your teen individually. This session is longer so we can discuss your concerns and start exploring goals for therapy. During weekly sessions, I will mostly be meeting with your teen. Sometimes, I will give your teen ‘homework’ or something for them to try in-between sessions.

Q: What if my teen doesn’t want to do therapy?

A: Some teens might ask for therapy… others may be completely against it. If possible, have them help in the decision of finding a therapist they feel they could trust and with whom they are comfortable. A consultation might be a great opportunity for them to explore what therapy looks like and who they’d be talking with during sessions. Normalizing therapy services and talking about some benefits might also be helpful!

Q: Will my teen actually open up in therapy?

A: Most teens are hesitant at first — that's completely normal. My approach is to meet them where they are, not where I think they should be. Over time, most teens find it's easier to open up to someone outside the family.

Q: How long does therapy last?

A: There’s not a specific answer for this, as this is based on your unique needs. I review goals regularly to see the progress and assess any changes needed. Some feel equipped and are ready to be discharged within a few months, while others prefer more time.

Q: Do I need to be in the sessions?

A: For most teens, individual sessions work best. I'll keep you informed about progress in an age-appropriate way, and we can include you in sessions when it makes sense.

Q: What if my teen refuses to go?

A: Let's talk about it in your free consultation. Sometimes a conversation between parent and therapist first helps ease a resistant teen into the process.

Q: How do I get started?
